In the market for a bed frame

A couple weeks ago Matt asked if I’d mind getting a 3" mattress topper for our bed. I asked if we would still be able to get into our bed.

If we haven’t met in person, I suspect you’re making assumptions about my height.

Several years ago Matt and I went to the store and laid on a bunch of different beds until we found a set of mattresses we could agree on. We scheduled the delivery for the mattress and corresponding boxspring. I was out the morning they showed up so when I got home Matt announced that our new mattresses had been delivered. As I started down the hall, he nonchalantly added, “They’re a little tall.” A LITTLE tall?! These mattresses seem to take up approximately one quarter of the entire volume of our bedroom! It was so ridiculous I woke up Ally and Sam to see at how silly it all was. We all got a big laugh that day.

Did they deliver the wrong mattress? The wrong boxframe? All the numbers checked out. Did they have mattresses sitting on the floor at the store and we just didn’t notice?! We had only recently gotten our nice headboard and frame so I didn’t want to change it.

Time has passed though and we’ve gotten used to it. These three inches though? I now squish down the topper before hopping into bed. Matt suggested we could get some of those stairs people buy for their little dogs.

I am 5'11" or 180 cm tall. I am not buying stairs to get into my own bed.
