An Excuse to Explore

This weekend and last I participated in a small quilt store shop hop around the Portland area. If you’re not familiar, a shop hop is where multiple quilt stores in an area coordinate to encourage quilters to visit all the participating stores. This one started in Vancouver, Washington then moved to Oregon covering North Portland, Troutdale, Gresham, Oregon City, Lake Oswego and Hillsdale. Shop hops are a a fun way to learn about different quilt shops, but the bigger draw for me is the excuse to get out and explore this beautiful place I live.

The drive from Troutdale down to Oregon City was a route I hadn’t taken before, driving through the forest and past some beautiful small farms.

Daffodils are blooming. The cherry blossoms and magnolias are just starting to bloom. Water is flowing out of the ground everywhere, forming little waterfalls on many rock faces. Lambs and kids are playing in fields. A bald eagle soared above, one hawk flew into a nearby cedar then another landed next to a small waterfall. So many robins running around, digging in the grass.

Each fall I decide that’s my favorite season in the PNW but then spring comes around and I change my mind.
